What is the “Expand the Horizon” program?

The “Expand the Horizon” program is a plan that was created in response to a task force that wanted to increase service in our multiple district (MD). The task force identified seven areas that were selected for primary focus:

· Membership

· Public Relations

· Funding

· Retention

· Extension

· Awards

· Conventions

The purpose of the program is to assist clubs and the MD in achieving service and membership goals.

Service clubs are facing new and demanding challenges in a rapidly changing society impacted by world economy and demographics.  Working together and supporting each other, we can increase our membership and provide service in our communities that will improve the quality of life for others.

Lions State-Wide Service Day
In September, the Oregon/Northern California Lions (MD-36) will sponsor a state-wide EYEGLASS collection day.

The purpose of this day is two-fold. First, Lions will work in their community to collect as many eye-glasses as possible for donation and recycling. Second, by participating in a state-wide project, Lions will let our communities see them in action and become more aware about what Lions do. The eyeglass collection day will be a great opportunity for individual clubs to hand out information to the public about the activities and projects sponsored by the Lions.

More information about the state-wide service day will be coming from your District Governor and Zone Chair.
